In the mid-range and the top-end the smooth power delivery allowed the rider control over a wide variety of riding conditions from tight trails to wide open stretches. The plush suspension worked well compared to the older GS models. Ignition and jetting problems plagued these early models. In 1992 the company suffered financial woes and development was slowed. WP forks were also used that year. For 1996—97 the bike was offered in a 360 cc version. In 1997 KTM switched to Kokusan ignition systems.
The bike was again offered in a bored out 380 cc version during 1998-2000 a street legal title was offered in some states. In 1999 the 300 received a hydraulic clutch and the 2000 motor benefited from a redesigned cylinder. There were significant engine changes, including a bore and stroke change and the carburetor size reduced from 38 mm to 36 mm, resulting in an 8 lb 3. All outputs are switched depending on signals from the voltage regulator and the ECU continuously. In the event of over-current, outputs are deactivated individually. This makes for easy error detection as the status of each output is indicated by a red or green LED light.
Map 1 is the standard, more linear, and predictable power map, while map 2 is a more aggressive map for added throttle response and more crisp, explosive power output. Powered by an ultra lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion starter battery, it provides a safe, reliable starting time and time again, while the wiring harness has most of the electrical components carefully positioned under the seat for easy accessibility.

Там куча настроек, с которыми я сам не разбирался, но основные функции освоил: спидометр, одометр, счетчик моточасов. Заводская резина тоже не порадовала своими характеристиками. Таков мой скромный вывод. Сейчас пробег 16,8 моточасов и 650 км.
Масло в коробке менялось на 2 и 10 моточасах. Оба раза было немного стружки на магнитном болте, но считаю это нормальным, пока всё притирается. Достоинства: управляемость. Легкий вес. Внятные тормоза. Недостатки: расход. Сам любитель и просто катаюсь по лесу, но управляется мотоцикл очень легко. Единственное, что подумываю, о демпфере руля, так как порой ловишь «расколбасы» руля.
То ли это потому, что скорость чуть выше, то ли мотоцикл легче. Очень сильно вибрирует. Откручивается практически все. Например, за пару часов легко недосчитаться болтов в траверсах. Сам мотоцикл после японца сделан как-то проще. Проводка кажется жиже, проводки тоньше. Все максимально облегчено. Даже гайки осей из дюрали.
Цены на запчасти на уровне японцев, может даже и дешевле. Пластик копеечный.
Мотор - во время теста возможности переключаться выше второй передачи не было. Но сразу чувствуется его уверенная работа на низах.
Обороты можно проваливать практически до нуля и он не глохнет. И едет с самых низов. Мотики прошлых лет примерно так же работали на низах при переносе форсунок в совокупности с прошивкой и разжатой головкой S3. Но при этом у них явно страдали верха!
Работают идеально. Развесовка шикарная! Удивлением было, что на сток пегах отличный зацеп. В целом по эргономике - все на своих местах!
